Sweeping views of Lake Laceola from every room of the house are accompanied by a series of eccentric dormers that bring in ample direct sunlight as well as ambient light reflected off the walls of the deep shafts. The dormers highlight specific parts of the program-dining, yoga, bathing-and respond with the appropriate light. The houses dramatic roofline and heavy stone walls are complimented by an equally dramatic terraced landscape reaching down to the water’s edge designed by London-based landscape architect Martha Schwartz.
